Postpaid FAQ

Number & Porting

I'm using SIMCARD.kr prepaid service. Can I change to postpaid?

If you stay in Korea for at least 12 months and already have an ARC or a D-2, D-4, E-7 or E-9 visa, you are eligible to switch to the postpaid plan. Please note that if your prepaid number is not currently linked to your ARC, we will need to assign a new number. If you have paid any prepaid plan fees in advance, please contact our support team so we can check whether it is possible to transfer the amount to your postpaid bill. This option is not available once the prepaid number has been terminated or already switched.

I'm already in Korea and using a different provider. Can I transfer my number to you?

If your number is already linked to your ARC, we can transfer it to our service. Please enter your current number in the “Number to transfer” field of the pre-activation form. Additionally, contact our support team and let us know which carrier you are currently using, so we can handle the transfer smoothly.

Do I get a Korean phone number?

Yes, you will receive a Korean phone number starting with 010.

Do I get an eSIM or physical sim card?

We provide both options. You can choose the type during the pre-activation process. If you choose a USIM (physical SIM card), it will be shipped to your Korean address of stay.

Payment & Billing

How do I receive the invoice?

If you are using the convenience store payment method, you will receive a paper invoice. The “Pay at convenience store” option is used if you do not yet have a Korean payment method. If you are already paying by Korean bank account or Korean credit card, you will receive an email invoice. If you generally prefer a paper invoice, please contact our support.

Do I need a Korean bank account or Korean credit card for payment?

We recommend using a Korean bank account for automatic payments. If you do not have one yet, please select “Pay at convenience store” during our pre-activation process. You will then receive a paper invoice with a QR code, which can be used to pay in cash at any convenience store. Once you have opened a Korean bank account, you can switch to automatic bank payment at any time.

Plan & Contract Options

Who can book this plan?

This plan is available to anyone staying in Korea for at least 12 months. It is limited to ARC holders and individuals who have not yet received their ARC but hold a D-2, D-4, E-7, or E-9 visa. Temporary travel abroad during contract time, such as holidays, is fully supported. Your plan will continue normally during this time – roaming is supported as well.

How to get a Postpaid Plan - Order Process

Book a postpaid plan on our website. Within 30 minutes, you will receive a pre-activation email with your credentials. Please complete the pre-activation process. During pre-activation, you can: Choose your SIM format (eSIM or USIM), provide your payment method, enter your Korean address and submit any additional details required.

We will verify all the information. If you are already in Korea, your plan will be processed quickly during office hours. If you are not yet in Korea, your plan will be prepared and activated after you arrive, also during office hours.

Can I upgrade or downgrade the plan during contract time?

Upgrading your plan is free of charge and can be done at any time. Downgrading may incur a fee if requested before the end of the minimum contract period.

Can I use the service from abroad? Roaming is possible?

Our services are limited to customers with long-term stays in Korea. If you only need a Korean number without being in Korea, we cannot provide service.
Long-stay customers who temporarily leave Korea can use our services including roaming.
Please avoid using expensive data roaming. While abroad, you will also be charged for incoming calls to your Korean number. You will receive an SMS notifying you of the fees upon entering another country. In some cases, data roaming and international calls are already blocked. You can request unlocking these services through our support team if you truly need them.

Do I need to cancel the contract when leaving Korea?

If you don’t need the contract anymore, cancellation is mandatory. Please contact our support team to request cancellation of the service.
If you temporarily leave Korea, you can keep the contract active. Please note that monthly charges will continue as long as the contract remains active, even if you are outside Korea. The minimum contract period is 12 months. Early cancellation before the end of the 12-month minimum period is possible, but a penalty fee will apply.

Korean authentification services

Can I use Korean authentification services?

Yes – You can use Korean authentication services once you have provided your ARC and we have linked it to your number.
To use Korean authentication services, please select SKT (directly – not an SKT MVNO). Then enter your number and your name exactly as printed on your ARC (LASTNAME FIRSTNAMES).

How can i connect my ARC to my number?

Please provide the requested information from your ARC during the pre-activation process in our WebApp. If you receive your ARC after your number has already been activated, please contact our support team.

Referral Award Program

I was a SIMCARD.kr customer in the past. Can I still participate?

Yes! You can still invite a friend. Instead of entering your Korean phone number, your friend should enter your email address in the “Referred From” field. We will then provide a voucher that can be used for your next order or trip to Korea.

Can I get multiple rewards if I invite more than one friend?

We would be delighted if you invite more people! For each successful invitation, you will receive a recharge gift.

When do we receive our awards?

The referred friend will receive the gift on their first postpaid invoice. The referrer will receive the reward 30-60 days after the referred friend’s postpaid plan has been successfully activated.

How can the reward be used?

The reward can be applied toward your next plan fee or added as extra voice balance. If you are currently on a postpaid plan, we can credit the reward amount to your next invoice.
