NATIONALMUSEUM VON KOREA UND DAS KRIEGERDENKMAL VON KOREA
With more than 3 million people visiting every year, the exhibitions of more than 12,000 relics include artifacts from the prehistoric era to modern times, as well as items and materials regarding Asian history. Except for special exhibits, admission is free, and right next door is the National Hangeul Museum, which exhibits hangeul, the UNESCO-acknowledged Korean writing system.
Wars fought during Korea’s 5,000-year history are remembered here. Some 9,000 relics and artifacts can be seen inside and outside the memorial. Special attention was given to the Korean War or 1950–1953, and the outdoor sculpture of 2 brothers hugging each other is especially popular and symbolic. The older brother with the helmet and rifle is a general of the South Korean Army while the younger brother is a soldier of the North Korean Army.
