NAMHANSANSEONG (FESTUNG)

Namhansanseong Fortress was constructed on rugged mountain terrain to maximize defensive properties, and to serve as the capital during times of war. Influenced by East and West fortification methods, it faced a number of reconstructions and expansions until the 19th century. Each stage of reconstruction and expansion can be seen throughout the fortress.
