13 SANSA, BUDDHIST MOUNTAIN MONASTERIES IN KOREA

In 2018, Korea’s Buddhist Mountain Monasteries were registered as the 13th UNESCO World Heritage in Korea. The recognition includes 7 mountain temples that have stood in harmony with nature continuing the Korean Buddhist culture for more than a thousand years. To this day, Buddhist practices and rituals including the lifestyle of monks are regarded as living heritage that have been passed on in its original form.
